Bad experience with Focusrite Scarlett 2i2

Note: Focusrite contacted me the first time I posted this review and since then they have fixed all these problems. I heard that they now have pretty good customer support. The problem was that when I needed them they didn’t care…
I decided to share my experience with Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 to perhaps help someone make a more informed decision when purchasing a sound card.
Let me start off by saying that the Focusrite was great in the beginning as a first interface but as the years went by, I started to notice some issues. And they are as follows:
1. The quality of the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB cable is really poor. It had some noise issues when it was connected with a condenser mic via phantom power. The noise is best described as some static noise. This was fixed with a better USB cable although it took me a week to realize what was the problem.
2. Recording a guitar directly on Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 is quite impossible to do properly due to a gain issue. Even when the gain knob was totally turned down there was clipping for some reason. Vocals, on the other hand, were recorded perfectly.
3. This one is the most disappointing issue. Focusrite decided to terminate the support for the older ( 4+yo ) models. They stopped producing drivers/software for these models. Therefore, I ended up with a $150 piece of equipment after 4 years with driver issues for the newer OS which, as you might conclude, is very unfortunate.

In conclusion:
My recommendation is to avoid Focusrite products as they have been, in my experience, really bad with support and they also made poor quality additions, such as the USB cable. For that money, perhaps purchase something that has a better history with support and better quality of their additions.
